Montana municipality with a cross-border project against fires and floods

Montana Municipality launches project "Equipment saves lives", e-MS code: ROBG-305, co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria Cross-Border Cooperation Program 2014-2020.

The project is a joint effort between the Municipality of Montana and the Municipality of Mozzacei (ComunaMotatei), Romania. The total value of the project is 910 542.10 euros, which 773 960.78 EUR financed through the ERDF, 118 361.38 euro national co - financing and 18 219.94 euro own funding.

The project falls within the priority area "Safe Region" and aims at effective risk management in the common cross-border region with a focus on floods and fires.. For this purpose, the municipality of Montana plans to purchase disaster management equipment - a dump truck with a hydraulic crane., rescue platform, two pickups, backhoe loader, two mini wheel loaders and one agricultural tractor with trailer. A similar equipment will be purchased by the municipality of Mozatsey.

At the same time, the project will implement several strategic actions, which would contribute to improving the state of CBC in the context of sustainable environmental protection: conducting a comparative legal analysis of the Romanian and Bulgarian disaster management legislation, developing an analysis of current disaster management plans and responsible institutions, developing a study of best local and European practices in the field of natural disaster management, as well as the creation and dissemination of a practical guide for preparing citizens in emergency situations.

The project activities are expected to be completed successfully in March 2020 year
